Yes! The course is flexible and writers can complete the writing when it works with their schedules. After the course, the modules will remain up. Students can refer back to exercises at a later date.
What is Included?
Each week, writers will delve into advanced techniques that build upon screenwriting essentials. Delve into internal and external arcs, and how theme and setting produce a more authentic story. The result produces a more focused, layered draft.
Week 1: Foundation & Intention
This focuses on theme and story intention, setting the tone for the book. Included is a checklist, workbook, video, and transcript.
Week 2: World Building & Setting
This focuses on the world and writing setting that engages and hooks reader. Included is a checklist, workbook, video, and transcript.
Week 3: Structure – External Arc
This focuses on the three act structure and major plot points that create an authentic story arc. Included is a checklist, workbook, video, and transcript.
Week 4: Main Character & Interiority
This focuses on the main character’s goal, emotional arc as well as external and internal dialogue. Included is a checklist, workbook, video, and transcript.
Bonus: Advanced Writing Techniques
This focuses on specialized techniques that Gayvin learned in 15+ years writing narrative stories (books and scripts) and while getting her creative writing MA and screenwriting MFA. Many times Gayvin specializes in areas that students are working through. Included is a checklist, workbook, video, and transcript.
