Book Review: A Cove of Witches by Nancy Taber

Book Review: A Cove of Witches by Nancy Taber

A Cove of WitchesA Cove of Witches by Nancy Taber
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this book from start to finish. I typically don’t enjoy a prologue, but this one hooked me, making me want to read more. From the characters, to the mystery, Taber weaves a multi-generational story that hits the sweet spot for readers who enjoy women’s relationships, friendship, mystical elements, and the ties that bind us across time. Well done, Taber. I’m looking forward to your next book. And the cover art is supreme–an evocative blend of the tone, time, enchantment, mystery, and intrigue.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Her ancestors need her. Is she powerful enough to save them?

If Simone, a clairvoyant police cadet, doesn’t solve the mystery of her family’s relationship with the phantom ship, the Doirons past and present will be in peril. Only Simone can break the spell. Only Simone can unlock their second sight.

But when visions of a spectre morph from frustrating to overwhelming, Simone risks losing not only the career she craves, but her family’s otherworldly abilities. She races to uncover her ancestors’ secrets and lies, generations of witches surviving the unthinkable. In 1781, Sébastienne’s spellcasting leads to accusations of witchcraft she must escape to save her sister from a treacherous marriage proposal. In 1719, Yvonne leverages her influence over the shadows to shield her daughter from a spymaster’s threats.

And all the while the phantom ship waits, blazing in a hidden cove in Prince Edward Island, calling through the generations. Simone must protect her family’s legacy, or be forever haunted by the phantom ship.

In this companion to A Sea of Spectres, author Nancy Taber has created a fast-paced and thrilling adventure full of folklore, history…and witches.

Iona Fay Book Tour

Did you know that Iona Fay went on a book tour across the United States, starting on the East Coast and ending on the West Coast in 2017?

Gayvin reads Iona Fay bedtime stories

Many of you followed us across the United States in Aoife the Airsteam. For those of you who missed it, I’m moving those blog posts over here.

We kicked off the weekend with a trip to Joran Lake in North Carolina. While there, we went boating, paddle boarding and read from Iona Fay, book 1.

For more photos of the journey, check out the AdventuresOfIonaFay Instagram account, where you can see the fantastic trip as it unveils itself this summer. (If anyone has connections at Instagram, please let me know. I’ve since been cut out of this account. Thanks!)

Thanks to Kim, Dana, Nora, Tom, Sheena, Gay, Erin, Koury and Jack for making the launch day a memorable weekend!!!
